About Future Chairs Ltd

Future Chairs Ltd was founded, and is owned by Marcus Cunnington. With an engineering background in aerospace and Formula 1 Marcus decided to design and build a carbon fibre wheelchair whilst Sir Frank Williams gave his 'race bay' talks about the seasons grand prix's. With Sir Frank sitting in his wheelchair, Marcus thought that his chair looked 'too clinical' and the design could be improved upon to improve the users well being.

Believing that he could vastly improve the engineering and design of current chair designs, he set about to design and build these fabulous wheelchairs.

The chairs were designed in-house using Computer Aided Design.

Positive comments by the MHRA test centre in Blackpool gave the inspiration needed to build a production definition model and invest in Computer Numerically Controlled machined high quality moulds and tooling. The chair was tested by the MHRA with positive results.

Today, the 'Free Spirit' range of wheelchairs are hand-made using premium materials and fine-tolerance construction methods, each one manufactured to the customer’s specifications and dimensions.

Marcus says: It has been a considerable challenge to produce such a wheelchair, but customers wonderful comments like these below, are fantastic and make all the hard work, design, testing and manufacture worth it.
